A Gold Medal Moment – Olympian Meghan Kinney Returns to the Pool!

Good news continues to roll in for one of our special patients, cancer survivor, Olympian Meghan Kinney (see September 23rd posting).

Nearly one year ago, a diagnosis of bone cancer ended Meghan’s training as a member of the 2012 US Olympic Synchronized Swimming Team.  She began months of complicated therapy that included reconstructive surgery on her leg and intensive chemotherapy.  Her treatment concluded late this summer and she’s been unstoppable since!

Back to the Pool!  Last week marked a major milestone as Meghan returned to the pool for the first time since her diagnosis.  Thanks to Meghan for allowing us to share this special moment along with her family, friends and Ohio State team-mates.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the house (and it had nothing to do with the pool water). Although Meghan won’t return to competition she plans to continue on in a coaching role.  Way to go girl!!

Set your DVR:  Tonight at 5 p.m. 10TV news anchor, Andrea Cambern will do a special feature on Meghan’s return to the pool. She will also be encouraging viewers to go on-line and vote for Meghan and her fiancé John, who are finalists in a military dream wedding contest (John is serving in the Air Force Reserves). If they receive the most votes, they might win the wedding of their dreams in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Get out the Vote! To vote for Meghan and John to win their dream wedding click www.salutetolove.com.  There is also a wonderful video that shares their story.  Voting has been tight and ends on October 31st.  Help spread the word.
